Jones sizzles on the mound in Seniors

Joshua Jones is leading all pitchers in the Seniors division of the 2009 Saipan Little League based on the latest individual statistics.

As of March 15, Jones had the lowest ERA of 0.74 with only two earned runs against him in 19 innings pitched.

The Jets are currently on top of the heap in the division with a 9-1 win-loss record in the five-team league.

Second-running Nokki Saralu of the Fielders is averaging an ERA of 1.31 and third-ranked Nathan Guerrero, also of the Fielders, is next with a 1.56 ERA .

The Fielders are third in the team standing with a 5-4 win-loss record, behind second-running D-9ers’ 6-3.

Other ERA leaders are D-9ers’ Eric Tenorio (2.33), Ol’Aces’ Anthony DL. Guerrero (2.72), D-9ers’ Dave Jones (2.96), Jets’ Harry Nakamura (3.50), Lion King’s Dominic Chargualaf (3.77), and Fielders’ Juan Maratita (4.00).

Jones is also leading in strikeouts with 27 followed by teammate Harry Nakamura and the D-9ers’ Dave Jones, who both knocked down 22 batters apiece.

Completing the list are Saralu (20), Chargualaf (18), DL. Guerrero (16), Maratita (16), Lion King’s Ricardo Dela Cruz (13), Jets’ Joe Palacios (11), and Jets’ Eli Aughenbaugh (11).

In batting, Mike Iguel of the Ol’Aces averaged .565, hitting 13-for-23, while Maratita has .481 with his 13-for-27 performance. Eric Tenorio of the D-9ers is third with his .478 on 11-for-23.

Also included in the batting leaders are Saralu (.444), Dave Jones (.435), Fielders’ Tom Agulto (.414), Dela Cruz (.400), Nakamura (.385), and Joshua Jones (.375).

Maratita has the most runs with 13, Saralu and Tenorio have three doubles, and they also join two others with three triples that included Maratita and Diego Camacho.

Five players have so far scored a homerun. They are Tenorio, Saralu, Tony Aguon, Tom Agulto, and Maratita.
