Ex-convict allegedly hits wife with wooden chair
Police arrested on Tuesday an ex-convict who allegedly used a wooden chair to hit his common-law wife on the head, even as she was waiting for him so they could take their sick child to the hospital.
After the victim fell to the ground, Antonio Mendiola Camacho, 35, was allegedly heard laughing as he got into the car and left the house.
Camacho was served with an arrest warrant for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace in Chalan Laulau.
Police said the victim had swelling on the left side of her head above the ear, but she refused medical treatment.
Camacho was taken before Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.
Detective Simon T. Manacop stated in his report that a police officer responded to the residence in As Matuis after receiving a report about a disturbance on Saturday at 11:03pm.
The victim told police that Camacho arrived home drunk so she asked him why he came home late as she wanted to bring their feverish child to the hospital.
The defendant instead offered his wife a drink. She took the beer and threw it away.
Camacho allegedly grabbed an unopened can of beer and threw it at her. She, however, managed to avoid being hit.
