Onoue rules March edition of CWGA
Shiori Onoue netted a 74 to win by three strokes the March edition of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association monthly tournament held Saturday at the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort in Kagman.
The 74 was Onoue’s highest total in three months but the win was her second title this year following her triumph in January, when she shot an even par 72 at the same course.
She also scored a 72 in February at the Coral Ocean Point but was only good for eighth place.
Onoue finished with a gross of 81 after submitting a 43 in the front and 38 at the back, both were the lowest scores and the 7-handicapper earned 15 points for topping this month’s tournament.
Dolores Yamagishi closed out with a 77 as the 24-handicapper had a gross 101 (48 and 53) that earned her 14 points.
Another 24-handicapper, Sachiko Adachi, was third with a 78 after coming in with a gross 102 (50-52).
Three players netted 80 but Terry Tudela came in fourth as the 18-handicapper had a gross of 98 (52-46), while 19-handicapper Grace Wang was fifth with her gross 99 (53-46) and 26-handicapper Bennet Seman was sixth with a gross of 106 (53-53).
Tudela was second last month with a 72.
Seman’s performance this month was way below the 67 net score she carded en route to winning the February edition, which was a Valentines’ Day present for her at the fairways.
Four players completed their day with net score of 81 that rounded out the Top 10.
They were one-handicapper Noriko Togawa (seventh with gross of 82, 44-38), 11-handicapper Chin Lin Wang (eighth, 92, 44-44), 14-handicapper Kimiko Abe (ninth, 95, 48-47), and 23-handicapper Terue Ukita (10th, 104, 57-47).
Togawa slipped from third in January to fourth in February.
Completing the list of players, who all earned a single point with their net scores in parenthesis, were Sherlyn Jones (82), Lorraine Babauta (83), Seo Ran Kyung (86), Margaret Tenorio (86), Yang A. Kyung (87), Yuko Togawa (89), Lourdes Kim (91), and Matilde Hocog (116).
