Northern Marianas College will be commemorating its 28th year of existence by hosting Charter Day festivities next month.

NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez recently appointed a Charter Day committee to lead all the preparations required for the event.

The committee is chaired by David John Apatang and is composed of students and staff members of the college, while subcommittees included budget, entertainment, hospitality, logistics, and marketing committees.

The event’s actual date will be announced later this week.

Saipan Tribune learned that the Charter Day festivities will once again showcase the talent of several well-known groups on the island.

It is also currently considering talent performances such as the highly-anticipated Marianas Idol Competition, the Battle of the Bands, Miss Pugua, and the CNMI’s Best Dance Crew Competition.

The committee will be holding open auditions for the various competitions as Charter Day draws near.

In addition to the exciting entertainment, there will also be several vendors featuring island delicacies and specialty drinks for sale. Other booths will have games for kids.

The Northern Marianas College Alumni Association will also be having a booth to register new members.

“This year’s Charter Day will include a focus on the efforts of the college and the community in working together toward NMC’s accreditation reaffirmation,” said Apatang. “This is one way of our saying thank you to the community for all their support.”

The committee is still looking for sponsors for this year’s celebration.
