The 28th Flame Tree Arts Festival organizer gears up
The 28th Flame Tree Arts Festival, Micronesia’s largest annual arts and cultural celebration, has been set for April 23-26, 2009, in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
The festival features visual, performing and culinary art of numerous cultures, including indigenous Chamorro and Carolinians of the Northern Marianas and cultures of Micronesia, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond.
“For nearly 30 years, the Flame Tree Arts Festival has attracted artists and art enthusiasts from the islands and beyond,” said Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Perry Tenorio. “We look forward to another lively island celebration this year.”
The theme of this year’s festival is “Uniting Rainbows of Culture and Tradition.” The festival will feature 20 food booths and 60 booths for artists and non-profit organizations. Festivities will be held the evening of April 23-24 and all day on April 25-26. Admission is free.
