The TJSHS Stallions charge again
Out of six categories, the Tinian Junior & Senior High School’s Stallion Team came home with four gold and one bronze medals at the 6th Annual Chamorro Language Competition sponsored by the University of Guam on March 10, 2009.
In the high school female singing category, freshmen Chloe Hofschneider walked away with a gold medal after singing Nånan-Måmi by the Hofschneider Brothers.
Junior student Benjamin Huk Borja introduced an original song, Buenas Marianas, that he and his father, Antonio SN Borja, composed and was awarded a bronze medal.
Raena P. Cing, another junior, defended her title from last year and came home with a gold medal.
At a corner of the University’s Field House that was packed with parents, coaches, and spectators was Megan Cruz, another 9th grader, who charmed everyone at the oratorical competition with the theme “Na’ Magof Numa’fåmta I Fino’-ta Kada Hå’åni,” and walked off with a gold medal—her fourth so far—after winning in the middle school level oratorical and the 6th grade poetry category in previous years.
Another freshmen, Mary Hocog, got another gold medal with her original poem in the high school poetry category, her second since winning a gold in last year’s middle school poetry.
The activity was part of the university’s 52nd anniversary. (PR)
