The Community Development Institute will be awarding certificates to participants in the Related Service Technician program. Related services assistants/ technicians work with children with severe disabilities to support their related services needs in order to maximize their skills and clients, including their participation in school, home and village communities. RSA/Ts are trained to assist teachers and therapists in helping these children. The NMC Alumni Association is inviting all NMC alumni to the first ever “NMC Alumni Reunion Barbecue Bash” to be held on Managaha Island on April 4, 20/09. There will be food, fun, drinks, and games. Oleai Elementary School’s registration for all incoming Kindergarten students for school year 2009-10 will be from April 1 to 30, 2009. Students entering Kindergarten must be born between Sept. 1, 2003 and Aug. 31, 2004.
For new first grade and transfer-in students (Grades 1st-6th), registration will be in June to July 2009.
Documents required for registration are as follows:
1. Birth certificate (from the court)
2. School Entrance health certificate (updated)
3. Current school accident/ health insurance coverage/ Medical card (updated)
4. Residency map
5. Legal adoption/ guardianship document (if applicable)
6. Valid CNMI entry permit (if applicable)

The Rota Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting mandatory liability insurance checkpoints today, March 14, 2009.
The first setup will be along San Francisco Highway Unginao by the Rota Hotel, from 9am to 10:15am. The second setup will be along San Francisco Highway Tatgua, from 5pm to 6:15pm.

The Department of Commerce and Commonwealth Development Authority, in partnership with the Northern Marianas College and IT&E, said that there will be a “Pre-Economic Summit Public Session” workshop at the Multi-Purpose Center Building in Susupe and the NMC campuses on Rota and Tinian on March 19, 2009 from 8:30am-1pm.
This session will focus on identifying economic opportunities, challenges, potential industries, and proposed changes to regulations that will benefit the Commonwealth. The event will also be broadcasted to Tinian and Rota through video teleconference to give participants there the opportunity to participate in this workshop.
The business community from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are encouraged to attend this important event. Registration is limited. Life in the Son Christian Fellowship will be having a parenting seminar called “Parenting God’s Way” today, March 14, at their facility in Chalan Laulau. The seminar will be from 10am to 4pm, with guest speakers Mark and Terry Benavente from Guam.
Mark and Terry have been married for 20 years and have two children. Mark is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and has been a pastor for 16 years. Terry is a graduate of the University of Guam and is a trainer with Special Education. They will be speaking about today’s challenges as a parent and tips on how to have a healthy pattern for parenting.
