Mulligans for sale in San Jose golf tomorrow

Organizers of the Inaugural San Jose Church Fundraising Golf Tournament will allow mulligans during the competition set tomorrow at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
Coordinators Manny Mangarero and Jess Wabol said the mulligans will be sold at $5 a pop and each player can avail a maximum of two unrestricted mulligans.
A mulligan is a retaken swing, usually due to a previously errant one. Mulligans are strictly prohibited in the official rules of the game, but are commonplace in social golf.
Wabol also reminded members of the Refaluwasch Golf Association that the San Jose golf tourney will also serve as the club’s March qualifier.
Earlier Mangarero said they are staging the San Jose Church Fundraising Golf Tournament to raise funds for the much needed repairs of the San Jose Church. Tee time is set at 7:30am with check in time an hour earlier at 6:30am.
Entry fee is $100 and will give participants a chance to vie for the top prizes in two divisions—low gross and low net double peoria.
Low gross will have both men’s and women’s categories. First place nets $300, second $200, and third $100.
The low net double peoria is co-ed and will award $300 for first place, $250 for second, and $150 for third.
Organizers will also set up closest to the pin competition in holes No. 8, 12, and 15. Five prizes will also be up for grabs in skills challenge in hole No. 6.
Mangarero added that the San Jose Church Fundraising Golf Tournament will feature a hole-in-one challenge with still an undisclosed prize.
The awards banquet for the tournament will be held immediately after the competition at the grounds of Kingfisher Golf Links. Mangarero said those paying via check should make them payable to San Jose Parish.
