Ol’Aces take down Patriots, seize lead
Ol’Aces seized the solo lead in the Juniors Division of the 2009 Saipan Little League Baseball Association after shocking powerhouse Patriots, 7-3, last Saturday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
Pitcher Lamarc Iguel went 4-for-4, including a solo homerun in the top of the fourth, to lead Ol’Aces to its fourth win in a row (4-0).
Ol’Aces is now half a game ahead of the previously undefeated Patriots, who fell to second with a 4-1 win-loss card.
In all, Iguel allowed 10 hits and three runs, while striking out three batters. He made his four runs in the first, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings, in one of the best individual offensive performances of the young season.
The team’s other runs came from Phillip Litulumar in the fourth, Jacob Flores in the fifth, and Jake Santos in the seventh.
