The Pacific Islands Club Saipan recently presented a total of $20,000 to the CHC Volunteers Association and the Northern Marianas Athletics.

Representing PIC Saipan, Angela Santos and Vicky Benavente presented the contribution to the president of CHC Volunteers, Maggie Wonenberg.

“We have several projects we are currently working on, such as essential supplies for patients and hospital equipment such as the hyperbaric chamber,’ said Wonenberg. “On behalf of the CHC Volunteers, we thank the PIC Saipan for the generous donation.”

NMA president Kurt Barnes also expressed appreciation to PIC Saipan. “The funds will be used toward the training camps for the kids who want to participate in running and other track and field activities,’ said Barnes.

Elias Rangamar, NMA member and 2008 Coach of the Year, added: “These camps will help kids learn a lot of techniques and emphasize fun while exercising, especially while they are still very young. “

Benavente said a portion of the funds was raised by proceeds from the “Hell of the Marianas,” a 100km cycling competition recently held at the PIC Saipan.

“Our mission is to provide guests with unique, fun and valuable experiences. PIC Saipan seeks ways to enhance and support the lives of all island residents,” she added. (PR)
