The Rota Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting mandatory liability insurance checkpoints today and tomorrow, March 13-14, 2009.
In today’s checkpoints, the first setup will be held along San Francisco Highway Pinatang by the Commerce Building. It will start at 4:30pm and last about 75 minutes and will end at 5:45pm. The second setup will be along San Francisco Highway Sinapalo 3 by the Children’s Park. The checkpoint will start at 7pm, last about 75 minutes, and end at 8:15pm.
Tomorrow, the first checkpoint will be held along San Francisco Highway Unginao by the Rota Hotel. The checkpoint will start at 9am, last about 75 minutes, and end at 10:15am. The second setup will be held along San Francisco Highway Tatgua. It will start at 5pm, last about 75 minutes, and end at 6:15pm.

[B]Pre-Economic Summit sessions set[/B]The Department of Commerce and Commonwealth Development Authority, in partnership with the Northern Marianas College and IT&E, announced that there will be a “Pre-Economic Summit Public Session” workshop at the Multi-Purpose Center Building in Susupe and the NMC campuses on Rota and Tinian on March 19, 2009 from 8:30am-1pm.
This session will focus on identifying economic opportunities, challenges, potential industries, and proposed changes to regulations that will benefit the Commonwealth. The event will also be broadcasted to Tinian and Rota through video teleconference to give participants there the opportunity to participate in this workshop.
The business community from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are encouraged to attend this important event. Registration is limited. Life in the Son Christian Fellowship will be having a parenting seminar called “Parenting God’s Way” this Saturday, March 14, at their facility in Chalan Laulau. The seminar will be from 10am to 4pm, with guest speakers Mark and Terry Benavente from Guam.
Mark and Terry have been married for 20 years and have two children. Mark is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and has been a pastor for 16 years. Terry is a graduate of the University of Guam and is a trainer with Special Education. They will be speaking about today’s challenges as a parent and tips on how to have a healthy pattern for parenting.

Puengin Inetnon will be held again today, March 13, 2009, at the Kagman Community Center’s parking lot. Puengin Inetnon is Kagman’s Friday Night Market that will take place every government payday. It will begin at 4:30pm and end at 10pm. There will be vendors selling food, drinks, snacks, clothing, and crafts. Puengin Inetnon is a family oriented event. The Division of Revenue and Taxation wishes to remind all CNMI residents that the 2009 1st Quarter deadline for filing the quarterly tax returns is Thursday, April 30, 2009.
