Friends of sex assault victim’s family seek help
Friends of the family of a female minor who was sexually assaulted in Dandan over the weekend asked villagers yesterday for help in the immediate resolution of the case.
Dandan residents found typewritten messages in their yards and the front of their homes yesterday, purportedly from friends of the victim’s family. The message sought for information that may lead to the capture of the perpetrator whom they said also sneaked inside the house and stole laptops and other items.
A resident interviewed by Saipan Tribune yesterday disclosed that they found the message in their garage around 3pm.
Neighbors said that they too found the same letter in their yards.
Saipan Tribune contacted yesterday the number listed on the message and the one who answered confirmed circulating the message, saying that friends of the victim’s family wants to offer their help. He declined to be identified.
In the same message, villagers were informed that the incident happened between 12am to 6am on March 7. It offered a $2,000 cash reward for those who could identify the perpetrator/s leading to his or their arrest.
Yesterday, Dandan Elementary School principal Jonas Barcinas said he was shocked upon learning the news and immediately told his teachers to account for their students. He confirmed that the victim was not among the students of DES.
Barcinas reminded students about the importance of being safe in school, at home, and in the community.
Department of Public Safety public information officer Lei Ogumuro yesterday declined to further comment on the case, citing the ongoing investigation by police.
Police reported the incident Wednesday, saying a female minor was sexually assaulted in Dandan on March 7. The female juvenile was treated at the Commonwealth hospital. Police are now looking for the suspect/s.
