The March Ace of the Month will be at stake when Saipan Golfers Association holds a tournament this Sunday at Kingfisher Golf Links. Check-in time is at 8am, while tee off is at 9:04am. Winner of this weekend’s tournament will earn a slot to the SGA Ace of Aces Tournament in December, joining early qualifiers Tony Deleon Guerrero (January) and Joe Rosario (February). Deleon Guerrero and Rosario had identical net scores of 76 during the February Ace tournament held last month at the Marianas Country Club, but the latter won in the scorecard tiebreak on hole No. 5. Rosario double bogeyed the par-4 hole, while Deleon Guerrero tripled. The Fil-Taga Golfers Association will hold its March Ace of the Month Tournament this Sunday, March 15, at the Marianas Golf and Country Club in Marpi. According to tournament director Nestor Siruelo, show time is set at 11am with tee-off time scheduled 30 minutes later at 11:30am. Established in 1993, Fil-Taga’s tournaments operate under a computer-controlled handicap system that creates parity among players in the A and B Flights. A Fil-Taga Ace of the Month champion is crowned monthly. Regular tournaments are scheduled once a month, normally every third Sunday. Green fees are in the $35 to $40 price range for most tournaments. (PR)
[B]CWGA March Ace this Saturday[/B]The CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s March Ace of the Month Tournament will be held this Saturday, March 14, at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort west course. According to the club’s secretary Lorraine Babauta, show time is set at 11:30am and tee time is scheduled an hour later at 12:30pm. Established in March 2007, CWGA is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI. The organization intends to accomplish the following: 1. Promote civic and community interest in golf; 2. Establish and encourage competition and good sportsmanship; 3. Promote and provide social functions of the members and their families; 4. Promote youth golf activities; and 5. To do any or all things necessary and proper to accomplish its purpose and intention.
