Wong leads SSC Ocean Swim winners
Rezne Wong competed in his last age group ocean swim and made the most of it, topping the longest course in the 31st Saipan Swim Club Ocean Swim at World Resort Saipan yesterday.
Wong timed in at 33 minutes, 42 seconds in the 2,500-meter race, beating five other participants, including Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan teammate Cooper Graf (36:52).
Wong, who will be graduating in high school this year, ruled the boys’ 15 to 19 age group, which also featured third placer Larry Kasperbauer (40:33) of Tarakito Swim Club of Guam, SSC’s Michael Moran (40:49) and Junior Pamaran (42:30), and Tarakito’s Ty Ralston (46:18).
Other top winners in various age groups were Sarah Klassen, Ryosei Toda, Angel Tan, Maxi Braig, Victoria Chentsova, Kensuke Kimura, Rione Emma, Benji Schulte, Keanna Villagomez, David Palacios, Mamiko Berger, Vener Urena, Suzy Kindel, Lewie Tenorio, Kieran Daly, Monica Yamaguchi, Manny Sitchon, and Florian Braig.
Klassen timed in at 18:53.57 in the girls’ 8-and-under 600m race, while Toda prevailed in the boys division, clocking in at 12:15.31
Braig dominated the boys’ 9 to 10 1,000m swim with his time of 16:47, outracing Kaito Yanai, Diego Shimizu, Justin Fell, Bryce Daly, and Andrew Klassen, while Tan (17:31) defeated Dannielle Atoigue (19:47) in the girls’ division.
Chentsova’s timed in at 22:58.21 (1,300m) in the girls’ 11 to 12 age group, prevailing over five others, while Kimura recorded 18:37.76 to win in the boys’ category.
