Depressing news

I just came home from the House of Representatives’ session where they failed to override the governor’s budget veto. The result: The CNMI still does not have a budget five months into the year. This is very depressing!

The six Representatives that voted no to override were given an opportunity to explain their vote, but none of them would stand up and speak. The people of the CNMI should understand how their government works; we need to understand why there is a lack of responsibility on Capital Hill. Five of the six had previously voted for the budget, but would not go against the governor’s veto. Two “no” votes were from my District 4. They have the right to vote the way they did, but it is sad that the CNMI is afloat on the sea with no one but the governor at the tiller.
