The month of March has been officially declared American Red Cross Month.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Villagomez, along with American Red Cross NMI Chapter staff and volunteer members took part in a proclamation signing yesterday at the Governor’s Office on Capital Hill.

This month the Red Cross will be coordinating numerous community activities. Red Cross volunteers will be setting up information booths at tourist and local hot spots such as the Garapan Street Market at the Paseo de Marianas every Thursday, at the Civic Center every Saturday for Sabalu market and the Tuesday’s Farmers Market at Fishing Base.

Besides these activities, the Red Cross will be holding their 2nd Annual Super CPR Saturday at the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan’s Hibiscus Hall on March 21.

For the past 127 years the American Red Cross has led the way in disaster preparedness and response, health and safety training, communication between military families and other international services. This year Red Cross is taking time in March to focus on the volunteers and employees who demonstrate such compassion and generosity by supporting the Red Cross in the CNMI.

Throughout the month of March, more than 700 Red Cross Chapters around the country celebrate with special events, training and fundraisers to give the community a chance to participate and to learn more about the Red Cross and the work that they do. (ARC)
