An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly having sex with his 13-year-old girlfriend at a beach on Tinian.

The suspect was arrested for sexual abuse of a minor. A $25,000 cash bail was initially imposed for his temporary liberty. Saipan Tribune opted to withhold his identity until formal charges are filed against him.

The suspect was brought before Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos for a bail hearing yesterday afternoon.

A Tinian police detective stated in her report that police officers who were conducting a routine check at Tachogna Beach last Friday midnight, Feb. 20, they saw a car parked near the container area.

When the officers checked the car they saw the suspect and the minor girl, both sitting in the backseat.

The suspect was not wearing a shirt and his belt buckle was open. The suspect admitted they were kissing, but denied having sex.

The girl, however, told police that the suspect was her boyfriend for two weeks already. She admitted that it was the third occasion they had sex.
