2nd Enticer set for this Sunday
Northern Mariana Islands Triathlon Federation’s second Enticer for the year will be held this Sunday, March 1, at Paupau Beach.
Enticer races are tune-up events for local triathletes preparing for the XTERRA Saipan Championship and Tagaman Triathlon this coming April.
The first of a series of enticer events was held last Feb. 8 with Ketson “Jack” Kabiriel winning the short course and Lewie Tenorio topping the long course.
Tenorio organized the first Enticer, while triathlon regulars Mieko Carey and Mamiko Oshima-Berger will be organizing Sunday’s race.
Registration will start at 6:30am, while the race will begin at 7am.
The short course will cover 500m for the swim from the Paupau Beach shore to the buoy and back, six miles for the bike from the Paupau Beach parking lot to Banzai Cliff Memorial Park and back, and three miles for the run from the Paupau Beach parking lot to near the entrance of the Marianas Resort and Spa and back.
For the long course, the competitors must simply repeat the swim-bike-run course.
Fins and snorkels are allowed for the swim. Teams or groups of three are also allowed to take part in the race.
Organizers also encouraged all entrants to bring their own stopwatch since there will be a variety of courses.
Entry fee will be $5 for NMITF members and $10 for non-members.
