Suspected Tanapag ‘ice’ supplier caught
Police arrested a suspected supplier of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice” during a raid at his residence in Tanapag Wednesday afternoon.
Roy Sablan Norita, 40, was arrested for illegal possession of controlled substance and trafficking of a controlled substance.
At yesterday’s hearing, Superior Court associate judge Robert C. Naraja ordered that Norita’s bail be kept at $30,000 cash, as previously imposed by the court.
Naraja set the preliminary hearing for March 6 at 1:30pm.
Detective Peter R. Camacho stated in his report that last Feb. 11 and 12, members of the Department of Public Safety’s Narcotics Unit used a “cooperating source” to purchase “ice” from Norita.
Further police investigation disclosed that two officers received information that Norita has two high-powered rifles, Camacho said.
A check with DPS Firearms Records Section showed that the alleged firearms are not registered to anyone who resides in Norita’s house, Camacho said.
The detective said the “cooperating source” went to the defendant’s house and saw two high-powered carbine rifles.
Camacho did not indicate in the report how much “ice” was purchased from Norita. Court records did not indicate if more “ice” was found or if guns were seized during the search at the defendant’s residence.
