A former employee of the defunct Marianas Garment Manufacturing has been missing since Jan. 6, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.

Renhong Zhao, 45, male, Chinese, of San Antonio, described as having a slight build, was last seen by his brother at his house in San Antonio when the former returned from fishing last Jan. 6.

DPS spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said the brother reported Zhao’s disappearance only last Sunday after several attempts to locate the former garment worker failed.

Ogumoro said that police are following up the case.

“DPS is seeking the assistance of the community for any information regarding the whereabouts of Zhao. Should you have any information, please contact the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9042/9045/9050,” the spokesperson said.

A fire broke out at MGM’s factory in Chalan Piao last July 9. Arson investigators determined that the cause was accidental.

MGM ceased active garment manufacturing last Dec. 8, but the factory officially closed only last Feb. 7.
