The Division of Immigration has sought for the deportation of a former garment worker who was recently convicted of possessing methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice.”

Assistant attorney general Kathleen R. Busenkell asked the Superior Court to order Dong Huang to appear in court and explain why he should not be deported.

Busenkell said Huang is a deportable alien in that he has committed one felony—illegal possession of a controlled substance. The government lawyer said the respondent has consented to deportation to China.

Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona sentenced Huang to two years in prison last Feb. 4.

Manglona said Huang is not subject to suspension of sentence, parole or probation.

The judge, however, gave the defendant credit for the time he has already served in jail since June 4, 2008.

Accordingly, Manglona said, Huang shall be released from the Department of Corrections on June 4, 2010.

After serving the prison term, the judge said Huang will be deported.
