Torres files complaint against son of late chief justice Taylor
Rep. Stanley T. Torres filed a police complaint on Thursday against the son of the late chief justice Marty Taylor for allegedly threatening him.
In a police report obtained by the Saipan Tribune yesterday, police classified the nature of the offense as assault and disturbing the peace.
Torres identified the suspect as Jeffery Randall Taylor, said to be part owner of the Pure Bred Trench Tech on Saipan.
As of yesterday, Taylor has yet to be arrested.
According to the police report, the long-time Saipan lawmaker called DPS on Thursday at 1:01pm to report that Taylor confronted him and threatened to hurt him.
A police officer said Torres stated that at 12:15pm that day he was at Quik Print in Garapan when he came across Taylor.
Taylor followed Torres to the parking lot, where the suspect confronted him, saying, “You look at these eyes! You look at these eyes, and remember this face!”
Taylor was allegedly about two feet in front of the congressman when he said this.
The suspect also allegedly threatened Torres not to show up at his father’s funeral.
“Don’t you ever show up at my father’s funeral because if you do, I will f__k you up!” Taylor allegedly told the 67-year-old Torres.
The lawmaker responded that it was his prerogative. Torres then walked away. Torres said that Taylor followed him and kept repeating that he would “f__k him up.”
Taylor also allegedly said: “And that law that you introduced, you better stop because you’re f___g up my business!”
Torres told police that his prior relationship with the retired late chief justice possibly caused the confrontation. He believes his recent introduction of a law that aims to regulate mixed martial art on Saipan was another reason.
Torres had described the sport of mixed martial arts as “too brutal and very violent.”
