DCCA stays unbeaten in 15 matches
Who can stop the juggernaut of Department of Community and Cultural Affairs?
The defending champion booked the season’s most lopsided win to stay unbeaten after 15 games in the 2008-2009 Inter-Government-Business Slow-pitch Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield Thursday night.
DCCA’s flawless game over Customs ended in a 26-0 count after only five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Mel Sakisat and Jonathan Tenorio traded positions for DCCA in pitching and at first base to lead the team in finishing off Customs, which suffered its 10th loss in 12 outings to stay in 18th place in the team standings.
Sakisat and Tenorio struck out 15 of the 18, who went at bat, including the first seven batters.
Sakisat is running third this season in strikeouts, tying two other players with 16 as of Feb. 9.
In offense, DCCA went 26-for-30 at bat, scoring 24 RBIs, five doubles, three triples, and three home runs.
Julian Camacho made two home runs, including a solo in the third inning and a grand slam in the fifth. He was perfect at the plate, going 5-for-5 and recorded five runs, to prove that he deserves to be included among the leaders in individual batting race this year. He is ninth with an average of .636, second in RBI with 35, and third in home run with eight.
Four DCCA players scored three runs each. The list included Craig Sanchez, Joey Dela Cruz, James Fleming, and Bill Limes.
Dela Cruz, the league’s co-leader in homeruns with 11, went 3-for-4 at bat and made three runs, one triple, one home run, and four RBIs.
Sakisat, Darren Flores, and Bob Lizama added two runs each, while Jun Saralu came up with one.

In other results, second baseman Jerry Ayuyu posted the season’s most home runs in a game with three to lead No Zone to a 16-6 victory over POI after only six innings.
With the win, No Zone improved its record to 10-4, tying Joeten Motor Jets and Docomo in fourth to sixth place.
POI absorbed its seventh defeat in 13 games and is tied with CRM/DEQ at 10th to 11th spots.
Jerry Ayuyu was 4-of-4 and scored four runs and one double.
No Zone had a total of six home runs with Manny Sablan hitting two and Ned Norita scoring one in the third.
Outfielder Gary Cruz was without a homer, but still contributed on offense, hitting 3-for-4 at bat and posting two doubles and five RBIs.
Ton Lizama had one homer for POI in the sixth, but that did not change the color of the game, as this team hit only 11-for-30 at the plate.
