Lebria, Camacho lead stats in women’s softball

Teammates Liz Lebria and Bego Camacho are leading the individual statistics in the women’s division of the ongoing 2008-2009 Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Slow-pitch Softball League.

Lebria, who plays for Finance, averaged .679 after hitting 19-for-28 to emerge to lead the batting category.

On the other hand, Camacho compiled an earned run average of 2.69 in eight games she pitched. In 52 innings she allowed only 69 runs and 95 hits. She is also tied in fifth to sixth in batting with Joyce Taro of current league-leader Northern Marianas College as the two averaged .565 (13-for-23).

Finance is currently in second place with a 5-4 win-loss record behind NMC’s 9-2 slate. Three other Finance player are in the Top 15 in batting.

Doris Rangamar of Department of Community and Cultural Affairs hit 14-for21 for a .667 average to currently occupy the No. 2 spot, while teammate Bert Camacho is third with a .655 (19-for-29) norm.

DCCA, the defending champion, is currently groping for form with its 4-5 card, good for only fourth place.

Evelyn Kani of cellar dweller Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (1-8) was running fourth in batting as of Feb. 9 with her .652 (15-for-23).

Completing the Top 10 are No. 8 Mercelyn Santos of CHC with her .555 (10-for-18), No. 9 Dolorina Panuelo of CUC with her .545 (12-for-22), and No. 10 Lilian Pangelinan of Finance with her .538 (14-for-26).

The others in the Magic 15 include No. 11 Kuki Pangelinan of NMC with her .529 (18-for-34), No. 12 Lenice Kapileo of Finance with her .519 (14-for-27), No. 13 Lilian Aguon with her .519 (14-for-27), No. 14 Antonette Laniyo of DCCA with her .500 (15-for-30), and No. 15 Edwina Baulechong of NMC with her .550 (17-for-34).

Felisa Brel is the leader in runs scored with 17, Bert Camacho and Kuki Pangelinan had 16, followed by Antonette Laniyo and Liz Lebria with 14, Joyce Taro with 13, Pauline Camacho with 11, and Lenice Kapileo with 11.

In doubles, Lilian Pangelinan, Felisa Brel, Kuki Pangelinan, Pauline Camacho, Jenny Palacios, and Evelyn Kani have two each.

More players hit triples with Kuki Pangelinan, Pauline Tudela with four apiece, Evelyn Kani with three, Julie Guerrero, Lilian Pangelinan, Doloina Panuelo with two, and 17 players tied for one each.

Four players have so far scored two homeruns, namely Bert Camacho, Liz Lebria, Angie Ngirbedul, and Kuki Pangelinan.

Those who have a homerun, meanwhile, are Marissa Guerrero, Charlene Cabrera, Pauline Tudela, Edwina Baulechong, Polly Omechelang, and Joyce Taro.

Angie Ngirbedul is the current leader in RBIs with 16, followed by Kuki Pangelinan with 15, Lilian Pangelinan and Dolorina Panuelo with 14, Joyce Taro with 12, Antonette Laniyo with 12, and Pauline Tudela and Edwina Bauleching with 10 apiece.

NMC’s Polly Omechelang is second in pitching with a 4.26 ERA and her teammate Felisa Brel is third with her 4.74 ERA.

Dolorina Panuelo of CUC is in fourth place with her 5.29 ERA, followed by Eula Matsumoto of DCCA with her 7.34 and Meng Yamada with her 9.65.

Matsumoto is currently leading in strikeouts with 29 with Panuelo (22), Bego Camacho (17), Yamada (12), Omechelang (10), and Brel (9) next.
