CUC sets 4-hour outage next week
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has scheduled a four-hour power outage on Feb. 28 so its men could do maintenance work on Feeders 4 and 7.
The affected areas include:
* Feeder 4: Entire grid, portions of Lower Base, Sadog Tasi, Capital Hill, Kagman and portions of Papago (Botanical Garden);
* Feeder 7: Entire Grid, Lower Base industrial area, north to Tanapag, Achugao, San Roque, As Matuis and Marpi.
CUC said its Power Division personnel will replace two rotten primary poles in the San Roque area, replace one air brake system in Tanapag (by the Mobil gas station), and clear vegetation on primary lines throughout Feeder 4 and 7.
“Because of the danger involved to the linemen working on or near high voltage power lines, the electrical power supply to Feeders 4 and 7 circuit will require to be temporarily de-energized from 6am to 10am to ensure the safety of our crew,” CUC said.
This maintenance will coincide with the ongoing Pacific Linemen Training Program funded by the Department of the Interior. PLT training instructor Chris Middleton will observe the projects.
“Although many areas of the existing electrical system is aged it is realized that by performing this required maintenance to the electrical grid, it will have an immediate impact in improving the distribution of power safely to the respective feeders,” CUC said. “CUC apologizes for any inconvenience this power interruption schedule will impose on the community and will continue to work diligently to minimize the interruption.” (CUC)
