Calvo fires 32 to lead Lady Knights past Southern
Noelle Calvo went berserk with 32 points to lead Mt. Carmel School to a 44-39 victory over Saipan Southern High School in the girls varsity division of the 2008-2009 MISO Basketball League Friday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
Calvo scored all of the Lady Knights’ nine points in the first quarter and all of 11 in the second quarter but the team fell behind by two points, 20-22, going into the second half of play.
She also had four of her team’s total of eight in the second quarter and half of the Lady Knights’ total of 16 in the crucial fourth period.
Both teams came up with eight points each in the third quarter as the Lady Knights relentlessly tried to catch up but still trailed by two points before the start of the final canto.
