Nearly $1M still available from developer’s tax appropriations
Expenditure authorities for 16 active projects on Saipan are urged to make a move on their proposed undertakings after the Department of Finance released that there are $901,117 under the developer’s tax appropriations that remain untapped.
As of Dec. 31, 2008, it was disclosed that from the total appropriation of $1.1 million since the 14th Legislature, only $204,502 has actually been used for the following projects:
* $137,893 for a road paving in Precinct I approved by Saipan Local Delegation in 14th Legislature;
* $30,793 for a road repair/FEMA match for Precinct IV;
* $25,107 for a road repair projects in Precinct I; and
* $10,000 for repair of a Koblerville Elementary School classroom.
Currently waiting processing of contracts are the Kagman school walkways which $296,445 was approved by the 15th Legislature.
Other school projects that are in line with the developer’s tax appropriation include:
* $86,000 for Kagman and Koblerville elementary schools’ parking lot paving;
* $51,620 for San Vicente kindergarten classroom;
* $ 9,742 for school pedestrian crossing signs;
* $83,000 for the Nativo Drive road project;
* $46,337 for Precinct IV road repairs approved by the 14th Legislature;
* $11,973 for Precinct I road projects;
* $10,000 for Susupe Beach Park renovation during the 15th Legislature;
* $107,000 for Tangan-tangan Road paving project; and
* $104,000 for the upgrade of the CUC line in Dandan.
NMC was also approved $45,000 for the institution’s Coral Road paving.
As of the end of FY2008, available balance for appropriation and allotments from the developer’s tax amount is $50,581.
