Rough seas today until Tuesday
The CNMI Emergency Management Office is strongly advising the public to avoid venturing near exposed beaches and reefs as rip currents still pose a high risk to persons in the water.
In an advisory issued yesterday, EMO said that a long period north swell will combine with trade wind waves and swells to produce combined seas of 11-12 feet through Sunday, falling to 9 feet on Tuesday.
Hazardous seas are expected through early Tuesday morning. The small craft advisory for hazardous seas is now in effect until 6am Tuesday.
Yesterday afternoon, east winds were expected at 20-25 knots, with wind waves of 8-10 feet and mixed swells east at 3 feet and north at 3 feet.
Last night, east wind was projected at 20-25 knots, with wind waves of 8-9 feet. Mixed swell east 5 feet and north 3 feet, with scattered showers.
Today, east wind is projected to reach 20-25 knots, with wind waves of 8-10 feet. East swell is at 6 feet and north, 3 feet, together with scattered shower.
Tonight, east wind is at 20 knots with gusts of up to 30 knots and wind waves of 7-9 feet. East swell will be at 5 feet and north, 3-4 feet, with scattered showers in the evening.
On Sunday, east wind will be 20 knots with gusts of up to 30 knots. Wind waves will be 7-9 feet and east swells at 5 feet and north 4-5 feet.
Monday’s east wind will be 15-20 knots, with wind waves of 5-7 feet, east swell of 5-6 feet and northeast, 4-5 feet.
On Tuesday, the east wind will be 10-15 knots; wind waves will be 3-5 feet, east swells 7 feet and northeast 3-4 feet.
