The NMI Crime Stoppers Program is now working with KSPN to launch a “cost effective” program to replace the “Crime of the Week” stories on television, according to NMI Crime Stoppers president Jim Arenovski.

Arenovski announced this at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Saipan at the Hyatt Regency yesterday.

He called on the Rotary Club and the community to continue supporting the Crime Stoppers program, which has been facing financial challenges just like many programs and businesses in the CNMI due to the economic crunch.

Arenovski expects the new TV program to start by the end of the month.

Crime Stoppers provides rewards of up to $1,000 to anonymous callers who provide tips leading to arrests.

Earlier, Crime Stoppers said it stopped featuring “Crime of the Week” stories on TV due to lack of funding. The TV program features specific crimes every Friday to make the public aware of the crime and help authorities solve it.
