NMI students take part in inauguration events
Five students from the Northern Mariana Islands attended the University Presidential Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 17-21, 2009.
Nicole M. Torres, Matthew Deleon Guerrero, Christina Ta, Marie Camacho, and Anne Atalig represented the Commonwealth at the conference, which led up to President Barack Obama’s inauguration, parade, and the UPIC Inaugural Conference Gala.
Events during the conference included keynote addresses from former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Vice President Al Gore, along with seminars and panel discussions hosted by a variety of distinguished guests, some of which included the Republican and Democratic parties and media correspondents.
Nicole M. Torres is a Sociology major, Legal Studies minor at the University of San Francisco, California.
Anne Atalig is a Biochemistry major at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
Marie Camacho is a Criminal Justice major at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Christina Ta is a Physiological Science major at the University of California, Los Angeles in California.
Matthew Deleon Guerrero is an International Relations major at the Boise State University in Idaho. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
