RBC Rollers cruised to their fourth win in as many games to take the solo lead in the team standings in the 2008 Navy Hill Friendship Basketball League.

RBC Rollers outgunned the San Antonio Shooters, 81-66, to lead three other teams in the winners’ list of the weekend games at the Garapan Basketball Court.

Despite a depleted lineup, RBC Rollers managed to control the game early. They started the game with only five players before Jojo Ulloa joined the team midway in the first period, which ended with Rollers ahead, 23-12.

RBC Rollers’ lead ballooned to double digits at halftime, 35-21, as they held the Shooters to only nine points in the second period.

The Shooters never recovered their form from thereon absorbing their second loss in as many games.

RBC Rollers are ahead by one win against second placer Docomo.

Docomo 75, IT&E 70
Docomo improved to a 3-0 slate and kept pace with RBC Rollers after outclassing IT&E, 75-70, in the second game Sunday night.

Ryan Sanciango drilled 18 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth period to thwart IT&E’s repeated comeback bids.

Docomo controlled the battle of the two telecommunication giants with Gil Miranda firing 18 first half points and giving his team a 37-34 halftime lead.

Miranda went cold in the second half, but Sanciango, who was held to two points in the first half, was there to save the day for Docomo.

Sanciangco and Ponce Rasa combined for 11 of Docomo’s 18 points in the third period to give their team more breathing space going into the payoff canto, 55-48.

In the fourth period, the backcourt duo of Brendo Talania and Mike Olaitiman tried to bring IT&E back on line, but fell short, as they failed to contain Sanciangco in the last quarter.

IT&E dropped to a 1-3 slate.
