Additional donations are still needed to help send back home a nonresident worker diagnosed with lupus, along with her two minor sons. As of Sunday, only at least $220 has been raised.

Four dropoff points for monetary donations have been identified by the Overseas Filipino Worker Support Group to be able to reach out to more members of the community.

Geraldine Amor, 35, is still in the intensive care unit of the Commonwealth Health Center. Her aunt, Remy Amor, yesterday said the doctors may have a decision today as to when the patient can be sent home.

“The doctors said she’s in a very critical condition and all we wanted is for her to be sent home to the Philippines,” the aunt said.

Carlito Marquez, chair of the OFW Support Group’s welfare committee, yesterday identified the four dropoff points for the donations:

1. The Philippine Consulate General in Susupe. The point of contact is Rey Tayag.

2. Ever Clean Laundry beside Java Joe’s in Dandan. Look for Jaye N. Bautista.

3. Champstar Electronics along Quartermaster Road. Look for Marivic Soriano.

4. Power Plant 4 office on Middle Road near Anaks. Look for Carlito Marquez.

“We are appealing for more donations,” Marquez said, reminding those who want to help to sign the prepared sheet of paper and indicate the amount of their donations for accountability purposes.

Marquez can also be reached at 286 6337, and Remy Amor, at 484 5811.

Geraldine Amor had been ill for months until she was confined at CHC on Monday afternoon. Her nonresident worker’s permit was not renewed when it expired on Dec. 10 because of her medical condition. She was diagnosed with lupus, an auto-immune disease that can affect various parts of the body, including the skin, joints, heart, lungs, blood, kidneys and brain.

She told Saipan Tribune that all she wants is to go back to the Philippines along with her 3-year-old and 1-year-old sons but does not have money for their airfare, for medical and other expenses.
