Law appropriates $141K for Rota projects
Gov. Benigno Fitial recently signed into law a local bill appropriating $141,700 from local license fees collected for pachinko machines in the first senatorial district of Rota.
Under Rota Local Law 16-5, the money will be distributed as follows:
-$23,400 will go to 13 hemodialysis patient who are receiving government housing and/or hotel;
-$16,800 will go to four hemodialysis patients who are not receiving government housing or hotel;
-$4,000 is appropriated to four police cadets’ stipends;
-$20,000 will be distributed to the Rota Gaming Commission;
-$28,000 will go to the Rota Legislative Delegation operations under the Senate leadership;
-$20,000 is appropriated to the Rota Mayor for special projects and promotions;
-$10,000 is set for youth/vocational programs and promotions;
-$15,000 for partial retirement of the 30 percent early retirement for five retirees; and
-$4,500 is appropriated for final payment to A&E Design for the bird sanctuary.
Various department heads will have expenditure authority depending on the project.
No funds can be reprogrammed under the law.
However, the Rota Little League president may use any remaining funds appropriated to the 13 hemodialysis patients to cover the costs associated with the 2008 Little League Tournament held on Rota.
