Individuals and groups from Saipan, Manila, and even as far as Los Angeles are poised to help the worker diagnosed with a serious medical condition to be sent home to the Philippines.

Geraldine Amor, 35, remains in the intensive care unit of the Commonwealth Health Center after she was diagnosed with lupus, an auto-immune disease that can affect various parts of the body, including the skin, joints, heart, lungs, blood, kidneys and brain.

Her aunt, Remy Amor, yesterday said she’s thankful for any monetary donation from the local community and abroad.

Remy Amor said donations could also be coursed through her account at Bank of Guam 0203-635861, or by calling her at 484-5811.

She asked groups willing to help collect the donations for the family and turn them over to her personally or through her bank account.

Among those wanting to help is CBN Asia, a non-stock, non-profit corporation whose major thrust is through The 700 Club Asia.

Funds raised will be used to pay for the airfare of Geraldine Amor and her two sons—a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old—to the Philippines.

The patient said she is now penniless after her work permit was not renewed when it expired on Dec. 10, 2008, because of her medical condition, plus she has to pay for her medical bills and take care of her minor sons.

She has been working on Saipan for five years mostly as an administrative staff member at a now defunct restaurant before taking a job at Motion Auto Shop. (Haidee V. Eugenio)
