Rick “Too Slick” San Nicolas and Team Yap’s Stanley Tuwun led the new list of fighters who will see action in this weekend’s Rites of Passage VI: Conviction at the World Resort.

San Nicolas and Tuwin made it to the fight card of the initial offering of Trench Tech, replacing the bout that was to feature Pwang’s Barry Mality and XTREME’s Marvin Somol.

“Barry Mality and Marvin Somol’s fight was cancelled. This originally was supposed to be a grudge match but the two made up and decided not to fight,” said Cuki Alvarez, president of ROP VI organizer Trench Tech.

The cancellation of the Mality-Somol duel will give San Nicolas and Tuwun a chance to gain their first win.

The 215-lb. San Nicolas had been into nine bouts and lost all, while the 210-lb. Tuwun is winless in two fights.

Three other pairings were changed for the ROP VI, which will take place this Saturday.

Zalaka’s Jacob Ilo, who was originally set to challenge Vince Masga of Trench Tech in the 135-lb. bout, will now collide with another Trench Tech fighter in Jerome Fujihara. Masga withdrew from the fight due to an injury.

Ilo will be debuting in ROP VI, while Fujihara is hoping to get his second win in as many bouts.

An arm injury forced Haga T fighter John Ogo to call off his 155-lb. bout with the debuting Seung Min Lee of Trench Tech. Taking over Ogo’s place is Dino Mettao, who lost his first fight last year.

With Mettao moving down to the 155-lb. bout, the 160-lb. E.J. Palacios will now be paired with Tom “Lite’s Out” Kim.

Kim is undefeated in two fights, while Mettao will be debuting in “Conviction.”

This weekend’s Rope VI will feature 13 supporting bouts, one semi main event, and an heavy weight fight.

Hosea Ware of Spike 22 Ground-Fu will be going up against Syl “The Deal” Teregeyo of Marianas Elite in the 185-lb. bout semi main event.

Ware, a replacement for Frank “The Shotgun” Manglona, has a 4-1 record, which is better than Teregeyo’s 4-3 mark.

The main event will have Marianas Elite’s Maitai “The Charger” Charley battling Ryan ‘The Dentist” Urquizu in the 150-lb. bout.

Charkey is hoping to get his fourth win in eight fights, while Urquizu is aiming to improve his 12-4 slate.

Tickets for the event are now being sold at Boarderline Skate Shop, 670 Rock Steady, Han Nam Market in Koblerville, Kagman Mobil, and Pacific Trading Co. at $20 each.
