Marianas Coffee Trail Run this Jan. 31
Come Jan. 31, 2009, it will be more than just coffee brewing in the early morning in the Northern Mariana Islands, as the 2nd Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run gets underway.
Organizers are now accepting registration for the run, which offers panoramic views of Saipan’s lagoon, challenging terrain through jungle forests, and breath-taking island vistas. Show time on race day is 5:30am, with race time at 6:30am. The course will start at the American Memorial Park and head to the peak of Mt. Tapochao, the highest point of the island, before heading back to Micro Beach at the park. The course also passes some of the oldest coffee trees in the Marianas. A 10K short course fun run will also be available for novice runners.
“Marianas Coffee Trail Run offers runners some of the best scenery in the Northern Marianas, including some beautiful spots off the beat path,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “Like its namesake, the race should be a refreshing way to start the day for both off-island competitors and residents, alike.”
Registration is now ongoing through MVA. Registration is $30. Registration on event day must be made by 5:30am and will be $10 additional. Registration fees include a finisher’s T-shirt, certificate of participation, and the awards banquet at 11:30am at Micro Beach. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place overall for men and women in both events.
Major sponsors of the event are Marianas Coffee Company, MVA, and Northern Marianas Athletics.
