Immigration arrests two more suspected overstaying aliens
CNMI Immigration agents have arrested two more suspected overstaying alien workers on Saipan.
GuoFu Shan and Zhao Yang, both male Chinese, were arrested on Tuesday and Monday respectively.
Shan and Yang were brought to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.
Associate Judge Perry B. Inos imposed a $1,000 cash bail for the temporary release of Shan, and $100 cash and $900 unsecured bond for Yang’s.
Inos ordered the respondents to appear in court on Jan. 22 at 1:30pm to explain why they should not deported from the CNMI.
According to court documents, Immigration investigator Nicolas T. Reyes filed a deportation case against Shan in January 2002 for failing to comply with the conditions of his entry into the CNMI.
At that time, Reyes said Shan did not have any Labor complaint and never submitted any application for his renewal or extension.
Immigration arrested Shan in Garapan on Tuesday at 10:48pm.
Shan’s last employer was the U.S. CNMI Development Corp., where he worked as a presser, according to Immigration records.
With respect to Yang, Immigration investigator John Peter stated in his report that on Monday afternoon, Immigration Maj. Vince Lizama detained the respondent after he failed to provide any valid Labor or Immigration document.
Peter said Yang admitted he has overstayed in the CNMI for over two months.
Immigration data showed that Yang used to work as an ironing worker at the United International Corp. His last work was as store supervisor for Peace Asia Pacific Corp.
