Police arrested three women and a man for their alleged participation in a burglary at a house in Dandan on Monday.

Jocelyn M. Camacho, 33, and Carlene Muña, 25, were apprehended for allegedly helping commit the crime, while Leuevalyne Mafnas, 21, was arrested for burglary and theft. Joshua Santos, 20, was picked up for burglary and theft.

In yesterday morning’s hearing, Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos imposed a $500 cash bail and $500 unsecured bond for the temporary release of Camacho and Muña.

Inos imposed a $600 cash bail and $5,400 unsecured bond each for the temporary release of Santos and Mafnas.

Santos was released after the hearing after posting bail.

During a bail modification hearing yesterday afternoon, Inos released the three women to third party custodians.

Arraignment was set for Feb. 2.

Detective Abraham C. Villagomez stated in his report that on Monday at 12:23pm, police officers responded to a house in Dandan after receiving a call about a burglary incident.

Preliminary investigation showed that Alina C. Cabrera had gone out to walk with her daughter and was returning home when she saw a man walking out of her garage carrying her luggage. Cabrera shouted at the man, prompting him to take off.

Cabrera chased the man and started yelling for help from neighbors to catch the suspect.

The suspect, who was shirtless and wearing a pair of blue denim shorts, tried to get into a passing vehicle but the driver refused to give him a ride. The suspect ran between a row of houses and plunged into the bushes.

The driver of the passing vehicle turned around and told Cabrera that the person she was chasing was Santos, a resident of Koblerville.

Cabrera went back to her house where she saw a woman inside a gold Toyota Camry car parked nearby. The victim asked the woman if she was with Santos. The woman denied this, saying she had parked because her car’s engine was overheating.

Cabrera went inside her house where she discovered that one of the windows in the garage had a torn screen and some items were missing.

Cabrera walked around her house and spotted two women hiding behind banana trees next to her house. She also noticed that the woman inside the gold Toyota Camry had left the vehicle. Cabrera found some of the items stolen from her home inside the gold car. She then called police.

Detective Villagomez said the two women at the scene were identified later as Camacho and Muña.

At 1:30pm that same day, investigators spotted Santos and Mafnas walking on the road close to Hawaian Rock.

Investigators escorted Santos and Mafnas to Jin Store in Dandan where Cabrera met them. The victim identified Santos as the person who was outside her residence carrying the luggage and the female as the person outside the house sitting inside the car.

The detective said investigators later conducted a search at Mafnas’ home in Koblerville, where a basket of clothes belonging to Cabrera were recovered.
