Ghasias Brothers and the Fanians arranged their title showdown in the 2008-2009 World Organized Rocball Community League after recording juiced-out semis wins Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

Ghasias Brothers whipped the Okies in the first semifinals game, 104-78, while the Fanians secured the second finals ticket after a 91-72 triumph over deposed champion Evenflow.

The Freddie Pelisamen-led Ghasias Brother took early control of the match sweeping the first two sets, 31-19, 27-15.

Behind by 24 points, 34-58, the Okies got their acts together in the third set and eked out a 26-20 triumph. Still the Okies were trailing, 60-78, and must win the fourth set to extend the game.

A 19-point victory in the fourth set would automatically give Okies the win and the finals slot.

But the Okies were not up for the big challenge, as Ghasias Brothers put an end to the former’s upset bid with a 26-18 win in the fourth set.

It was a sweet revenge for Ghasias Brothers, who absorbed their first loss of the season at the hands of Okies. Besides owning the bragging rights of handing Ghasias Brothers their first defeat this year, the Okies were also the lone team to skunk a set against the former. A skunk in rocball terms is a shutout win.

Pelisamen led Ghasias Brothers’ juiced-out victory with his 26 points. He had eight kees, two aces, and two goals.

In the second semis match, the Fanians recovered from an opening set loss en route to denying Evenflow a return trip to the finals.

Evenflow boosted its title defense bid when it took the first set, 25-16. But the Fanians swept the last three sets to book the second finals ticket.

The Fanians started their recovery with a close 25-20 win in the second set. They picked up where they left off in the third set with a 25-16 victory and wrapped up the match with a 25-11 win in the fourth set.

Evenflow, which won last season’s championship against No-Use, faltered in its bid for back-to-back finals appearances despite scoring more goals than the Fanians, 5-2.

Tito Francisco paced Evenflow with 13 points on two aces, three kees, and a goal.

The Fanians-Ghasias Brothers championship showdown will begin tonight. It will be a best-of-three title series.
