Tourism industry leaders of the Northern Mariana Islands are inviting the community to join them in giving time this weekend to keep the islands beautiful for both residents and visitors, alike.

Members of Japan Saipan Travel Association, Marianas Visitors Authority, and the Korea Travel Association of Saipan will hold their annual Travel Industry Cleanup on Saturday, Dec. 27, in Garapan.

“Saipan, Tinian and Rota are all beautiful islands that we can be proud of,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “Keeping our islands clean shows we take pride in where we live. It also makes a positive impression on visitors about who we are and how we take care of our islands.”

The cleanup will start at 6:30am at the American Memorial Park parking lot, proceed through the Garapan hotel district and continue south to the Garapan basketball court. The cleanup will then return north along the beaches of Hafadai Beach Hotel, Makaka Beach, Fiesta Resort & Spa and Hyatt Regency Saipan before finishing at Micro Beach.

Companies, community groups, or individuals interested in joining the Tourism Industry Cleanup may contact Ed Diaz of MVA for more information at ediaz@mymarianas.com or 670-664-3200. (MVA)
