Fresh trade winds are expected through Thursday and seas will remain hazardous through Christmas Day, according to a notice issued yesterday by the CNMI Emergency Management Office.

The advisory said that an easterly swell is combining with waves to bring seas above 10 feet. “Surf heights will increase along eastern exposure on Wednesday,” EMO said.

Small craft advisory for hazardous seas remains in effect through Thursday afternoon. “Boaters should exercise caution when entering harbors, especially along east facing exposures.”

The public is urged to avoid venturing near reefs and exposed beaches as winds and waves conditions support dangerous rip currents. Rip currents are life threatening to anyone entering the water. (EMO)
