Ned Norita may not have won the SGA Ace of Aces Tournament, but still came out a winner during Saipan Golfer Association’s Christmas Party and Awards Ceremony Friday at Charley’s Cabaret at Pacific Islands Club.

Norita, besides winning the SGA March Ace of the Month, walked away with four other individual awards leaving the stage with his hands full of gifts from SGA sponors.

The five-handicapper Norita recorded the lowest gross, most eagles, birdies, and longest drive in the 2008 season.

His 72 in second round of the SGA Ace of Aces Tournament at Coral Ocean Point was the club’s best gross tying Edward Manibusan’s score. Norita tamed the Agingan Point course with her even par 36 on both nines. He had the second round-best net score of 67 to finish with a 146 after a slow start in the opening round shooting a 79 at Kingfisher Golf Links.

Norita had five eagles this season, sharing the feat with Jess Castro, Ray San Nicolas, and Ron Hodges.

The police officer also made the most birdies with 28 and shared the most longest drives honors with Rick Kautz.

Other top performers this year were Joe Demapan (lowest net of 60), Manibusan (most greenies), Steve Balakrishna (most consistent), Joe I. Sablan (Most Improved Player), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero, Joe Sablan, Martin Sablan, and Norbert Sablan (most wins in SGA-sanctioned events), and Art Deleon Guerrero, Mariano Fajardo, and Joe Sablan (most games).

Winners, including the player with the highest gross score (Mariano Fajardo) and highest net (Ray San Nicolas), received gifts during the awards ceremony.

Demapan won the 2008 SGA Ace of Aces title with a net score of 139, beating Norbert Sablan in scorecard tiebreak.
