Rental car is found gutted at Suicide Cliff
A rented car was found abandoned at Suicide Cliff in Marpi Wednesday morning and some of its parts were missing, police said yesterday.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Police Officer 2 Jason Tarkong said the car was a blue 2008 Toyota Camry four-door sedan with license plate ACC-470.
Tarkong said missing from the vehicle were both tail lights, radiator, and the driver and passenger air bags.
Tarkong said the detectives investigating the case are temporarily withholding the name of the person who rented the car from Lei Rent-A- Car.
Police arrived at Suicide Cliff Monday at 7:28am after they received a call about a vandalized car.
Police officers saw no one in the area and discovered some parts of the car were missing.
Police Officer David Rabauliman investigated the matter and found out that the car belongs to Lei Rent-A-Car located on Beach Road in San Jose.
The owner told police that the car was rented to a Chinese man last Monday, Dec. 1.
Officers were able to obtain a contact number of the customer and called that number.
The person who answered the phone told police that the customer who rented the vehicle had already left for China.
“This case is currently under investigation,” Tarkong said.
