Taga Riders: 14 years of giving to the man’amko
Saipan’s Taga Riders not only arrived in stylish attires and expensive motorcycles at the Office On Aging but also brought gifts for the man’amko yesterday.
The group’s president, Bill Camacho, said they have been doing this for the last 15 years as their way of honoring the senior citizens of Saipan.
“This is a way of celebrating our 14th year. It is our commitment to pay tribute and respect to them,” Camacho said.
He said the gifts were solicited from the business sector. These included assorted items like fruits, t-shirts, coffee cups and other grocery items.
The Taga Riders, who have been doing charity work for the past 13 years, also donated $500 to the senior citizens.
“It’s Christmas time and we are very happy to receive these presents. I hope that the Taga Riders will enjoy a bountiful Christmas holiday,” Man’amko Advisory Council president Frank Reyes said.
The riders will be visiting the Commonwealth Health Center Pediatric Ward today for similar gift giving and to host fun activities for the children.
The other officers of the Taga Riders are Edward Flores (vice president), Joey Ejercito (secretary), Jess Santos (treasurer), and June Somorane (road captain).
The groups’ founder is George Camacho.
The members include Ben Sablan, Stanley Santos, Marie Sapong, Ed Tudor, Susan Tudor, Cel Damian, Dave Meyers, Manny Cabrera, Tony Yen, Ruben Corpuz, Vince Lizama, Peter Togawa, and Jess Quiblat.
