MVA meeting to address status of tourist industry
The Marianas Visitors Authority will hold its next general membership meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Saipan World Resort. The highlight of the meeting will be a presentation titled “Insights and Update on Japan and Korea Markets” by Michael Merner, chair of AVIAREPS Marketing Garden and MVA Japan and Korea representative.
The MVA general membership meeting is held bi-annually to update members, legislators, government officials, and the public about the status of tourism in the CNMI. This month’s meeting will also include an update on the China and Russia markets, committee reports on destination enhancement and niche marketing, and recognition of the 2008 Top Contributor.
The meeting will be held at Taga Hall from 10am to 12pm, followed by lunch. The cost of the membership meeting and lunch is $20 for members and $30 for non-MVA members.
The meeting also provides an ideal opportunity for people to join MVA and gain the membership advantage.
“Tourism is everybody’s business,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “Our members participate in city seminars and conferences in major trade shows. Members also receive exposure thorough promotional collaterals at major events, promotional activities, and tie-ins with leading trade publications in the Pacific and Asia market.”
MVA keeps its members informed of industry trends with regular visitor statistics, in-depth analyses of visitor profiles, a monthly e-newsletter with activity updates, and the annual report. Members can include their activities in the MVA Calendar of Events.
By joining MVA, businesses that rely on tourism can strengthen communication with CNMI government agencies and leverage their ability to promote Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to existing and potential tourist markets.
MVA membership is $100 per year. Membership applications are available under the MVA Members section at www.mymarianas.com. Membership inquiries and membership meeting reservations may be made by contacting John Palacios no later than noon on Dec. 9, 2008 at 670-664-3200 or jpalacios@mymarianas.com. (MVA)
