Sobriety checkpoints set

The Saipan Department of Public Safety announced yesterday that the Traffic Section will be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints this weekend.

The first checkpoint will be held today, Dec. 5, 2008, on Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Gualo Rai, in front of Sherwin Williams on the northbound outer lane. This operation will commence at approximately 8pm and will terminate at about 9:15pm.

The second checkpoint will take place along Beach Road Chalan Kanoa northbound outer lane in front of Carmen Safeway. This will commence at about 12:30am of Dec. 6, 2008, and will end at about 1:45am.

Tomorrow, Dec. 6, the first checkpoint will be on Beach Road, Chalan Laulau by B&R Auto Shop intersection on the southbound lane. This will begin around 7:30pm until around 9:45pm.

The second checkpoint will be conducted on the same date on Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa, northbound outer lane in front of Carmen Safeway. This will commence at about 1:30am on Dec. 7, 2008, and will terminate at about 2:45am.

All checkpoints are subject to be terminated if it begins to rain. In addition to the checkpoints, officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions and laser activities. [B][I](DPS)[/I][/B]
