The board of directors of Sister Remedios School were treated to an appreciation luncheon in early November to thank retiring members: Jerome Ierome, Jeffery Warfield and Joseph Ada Jr., and to welcome new members: Lorraine Babauta, who replaced Bernadita Seman as president, Elaine Dela Gruz as vice president, and Dora Miura as secretary. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, a musical adaptation of Miracle on 34th Street, is being presented by the Friends of the Arts.
Showtime is on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7pm, at the Multi-Purpose Center on Beach Road. There will be a Saturday matinee at 3pm, Dec. 13, followed by a 7pm evening performance. On Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3pm, there will be a matinee performance for the benefit of Guma Esperanza.
Tickets are $10 for FOA members, $12 for non-members and students are $5. Your ticket for the Sunday matinee is a donation of money or canned goods. Donations for Guma Esperanza will be accepted at all performances.
Tickets are available from all members of the cast, FOA board members or at the door of the Multi-Purpose Center on the performance dates. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B] [B]English Placement Test[/B]
The Northern Marianas College will be conducting an English Placement Test on the following dates:
Dec. 10 5pm – 8pm Room D-1
Dec. 11 9am – 12pm Room D-1
Jan. 8 5pm – 8pm Room D-1
Jan. 9 1pm – 4pm Room D-1
Jan. 14 9am – 12pm Room A-6
No admittance to the testing room will be allowed after the starting time.
Those who wish to take the test must bring a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport or school ID) and pencils.
There is a $25 fee for the English Placement Test that must be paid in advance at the NMC Cashier (Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm). No one will be allowed into the testing room without proof of payment (a receipt for either the placement test fee or the NMC application fee). Payment for the application fee will cover the English placement test fee.

The Kagman Komunidat Association is looking for interested vendors to sell food, clothing, games, and other types of family oriented entertainment for “Puengin Inetnon.”
“Puengin Inetnon” is Chamorro for “a night of gathering.” It will be similar to the Thursday Night Street Market in Garapan except that it will be held every government payday Friday at the Kagman Community Center.

[B]Free health screening for OFWs[/B]
The last quarter “Free Health Screening for OFWs” will be held this Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at the ground floor of Marianas Business Plaza Building. Registration is at 7am and the actual conduct of the activity will start at 8am until noon.
The medical services include blood pressure, blood sugar, and vision checkups. Those availing of blood sugar level checkup must refrain from taking solid and liquid food from midnight to actual testing.
This quarterly conduct of health mission/wellness program by the Philippine Consulate General, Philippine Overseas Labor Office, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is being done in cooperation with the Filipino Volunteer Medical Team and Hardt Eye Clinic.[B][I] (PR)[/I][/B] [B]Commerce holds survey of FAS citizens [/B]
The Department of Commerce’s Central Statistics Division, in collaboration with the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Interior, will be conducting a Compact of Free Association survey beginning this Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, on Saipan.
The survey, called the “2008 Survey of Compact Of Free Association (COFA) Migrants,” is intended to determine the latest total of Freely Associated State citizens who currently reside in the CNMI, which will be used to determine future Compact Impact funding for the CNMI.
The public is asked to assist the COFA enumerators who may visit their homes in the upcoming weeks. [B][I] (PR)[/I][/B] [B]Red Cross Health & Safety Trainings[/B]
The American Red Cross announces the following health and safety training for the month December 2008:
-First Aid: Dec. 16, Tuesday, 6pm – 10pm
-Infant & Child CPR: Dec. 20, Saturday, 8am – 1pm.
The training fee for Adult CPR and First Aid is $30 per person/per course and the training fee for the Infant & Child CPR is $35 per person. A participant’s booklet is required. Participant’s booklet is $5 each and is good for all three courses.

The Carolinian Affairs Office, in cooperation with the Refaluwasch Genealogy Society, is seeking proposals for the development and operation of a cultural show to include Carolinian culture at the Carolinian utt in Garapan. No reservations needed—first come first served. No admittance to the testing room will be allowed after the starting times listed above.

The only exception to this condition is for NMC students who have not taken a math class within one year of taking the math placement test.
