The Superior Court yesterday imposed prison terms on two ex-convicts who burglarized Canton Restaurant in Garapan last March.

Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja sentenced Angel Chipwelong Ruben to a total of nine years in prison for the burglary and three previous cases.

Naraja sentenced Vince Santer Camacho to a total of eight years in prison for the burglary and one previous case.

After serving their prison terms, Ruben and Camacho, both 22 years old, will be placed on supervised probation. The two defendants were given credit for the time they had already served in jail.

Following a plea agreement, Naraja sentenced Ruben to 10 years in prison, all suspended except for five years, for burglary.

The judge also ordered Ruben to serve the four-year sentence that was previously suspended in connection with his conviction in three previous cases.

Naraja sentenced Camacho to 10 years in prison, all suspended except for five years, for burglary.

Camacho was directed to serve the three-year sentence in the previously suspended prison term in his 2005 conviction.

Naraja said the two terms of incarceration against the two defendants shall be served consecutively.

This means that Ruben will serve a total of nine years in prison, while Camacho will serve eight years.

Naraja required the defendants to each pay a $250 fine, $100 court assessment fee plus $100 in annual probation fee.

The defendants will also be required to each perform 200 hours of community service and write a letter of apology to the owners of Canton Restaurant.
