A man who is facing charges in federal court for selling methamphetamine or “ice” near a school on Tinian entered a guilty plea yesterday.

Ying Min Jin signed a plea agreement with the U.S. government and pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance near a school.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson accepted Jin’s plea and set the sentencing for March 10, 2009.

Munson sent Jin back into the custody of the U.S. Marshal.

A Drug Enforcement Administration agent stated in his report that on Aug. 27, 2008 a “confidential source” was able to purchase $140 worth of “ice” from Jin inside a poker arcade on Tinian. Ppolice officers then entered the establishment where they arrested the defendant.

The agent said the officers recovered 2.6 grams of “ice” from Jin’s wallet and front pants pocket.

The arcade was within 1,000 feet of the Tinian Grace Christian Academy.
