CUC lowers electric fuel rates for December
As oil prices continue to decrease, so too have power rates.
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. yesterday announced the fluctuating fuel rate for December is 20.7 cents per kilowatt-hour, down from 27.0 cents in November. The all-time high was set in July and August when customers were paying 41.3 cents per kWh. In May, CUC more than doubled the rates per kWh for residential customers.
Under the new December rates, residential customers using less than 500 kWh will be charged 20.7 cents in fluctuating electric fuel and 1.6 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 22.3 cents per kWh.
Customers using 501 to 1,000 kWh will be charged 20.7 cents for fluctuating electric fuel and 6.6 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 27.3 cents per kWh.
Those using 1,001 to 2,000 kWh will pay 20.7 cents for fluctuating electric fuel and 8.6 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 29.3 cents per kWh.
Residential customers using more than 2,000 kWh will pay 20.7 cents for fluctuating electric fuel and 12.7 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 33.4 cents per kWh. All residential customers must pay a $5.60 fixed customer charge.
Commercial customers will pay 20.7 cents for fluctuating electric fuel and 8.6 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 29.3 cents per kWh. Government agencies will pay 20.7 cents for fluctuating electric fuel and 9.1 cents for electric non-fuel, for a total of 29.8 cents per kWh. Commercial and government customers must also pay a monthly fixed customer charge of $7.67.
